1.65

第九海印炳現門者，亦有二義：一約果位。如前差別無盡教法，皆是如來海印定中同時炳然圓明顯現，設所化機亦同緣起在此中現，是故唯以此三昧海為斯教體。如下文云「一切示現無有餘，海印三昧勢力故。」二約因位。要普賢等諸大菩薩方得此定，同前業用亦無差別，是故十信滿處普賢位中亦得此定，如〈賢首品〉說。

Ninth is the gate of the ocean-seal's manifest illumination. This also has two meanings: First, in terms of the stage of the fruit: the differentiated, inexhaustible teachings as described above are all simultaneously, brilliantly, and perfectly manifested in the Tathāgata's sāgara-mudrā samādhi; even the capacities of those to be transformed are likewise arisen through conditions and manifest herein; therefore, this ocean of samādhi alone is taken as this teaching's essence. As a later passage says: 'All manifestations are without remainder, / Due to the powerful force of the sāgara-mudrā samādhi.' Second, in terms of the stage of the cause: only when great bodhisattvas such as Samantabhadra attain this samādhi are their karmic functions identical to those above without difference; therefore, where the ten faiths are fulfilled, in the stage of Samantabhadra, they also attain this samādhi, as expounded in the 'Chapter on the Worthy Head'.
