Fourth, regarding that which is realized: it refers to the meaning of the omnipresence of the true suchness of the dharmadhātu. The Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi-śāstra states: "First is the omnipresent true suchness; that is, this true suchness is revealed by the twofold emptiness, and there is no dharma in which it is not present." Explanation: 'Presence' (xing) refers to all conditioned formations (saṃskāra). The true suchness revealed by the twofold emptiness of self and phenomena is omnipresent throughout all conditioned formations; hence it is called 'omnipresent' (bianxing). In the Liang translation of the Saṃgraha it is called 'pervading everywhere', because it pervades all conditioned formations. Vasubandhu's Saṃgraha, fascicle seven, states: "Because there is no slight dharma that is not non-self, it is called omnipresent." Asvabhāva's Saṃgraha, fascicle seven, also states: "Because there is no slight dharma that is not empty, it is called omnipresent." In actual truth, the twofold emptiness extends to the remaining nine bhūmis; because it is initially realized in the first stage, it is named after it.
