10.8

初中所詮故、所以故，名之為義。深故、廣故，名之為大。謂義則大故，名為義大；表義故、顯境故，名之為說。因於此說，得彼義故，教從所詮亦名為大，此即大之說故，名為說大。

First: being what is signified and being the reason, it is named "meaning." Being profound and being vast, it is named "great." That is, because the meaning is great, it is called "greatness of meaning." Expressing the meaning and revealing the realm, it is named "teaching." Because by means of this teaching one attains that meaning, the doctrine is also named "great" following what is signified; this being the teaching of the great, it is named "greatness of teaching."
