Seventh, identity and difference: the preceding three fruits are different across the bhūmis, whereas the single fruit of vows and wisdom is identical across all bhūmis. Why is this? Truly because the distinct characteristics of the bhūmis are difficult to differentiate, the preceding three are used to show their superiority and inferiority. But actual virtues must be discussed, so vows and wisdom are explained to manifest the equality of the bhūmis. Furthermore, the former demonstrates the differences of the bhūmis according to the three vehicles; the latter illuminates the equality of the bhūmis according to the One Vehicle, meaning that one bhūmi is all bhūmis, and all bhūmis are one bhūmi—this is the meaning.
