13.27

三約大悲分別中四門內，此當第三異道求解脫。於顛倒因中求解脫。倒因三種中，此文治彼自性因，故云不應如是求。何以故者，將欲廣釋故徵也。謂我佛法中，因前支起後支，斷前因故後果不生，即得解脫。汝說冥性為因，縱知之，何由可脫？故云不應也。言因緣有支等者，總舉經文顯正治邪，可知。

Third, regarding the differentiation in terms of great compassion, within the four approaches this corresponds to the third, 'seeking liberation through heterodox paths'—seeking liberation amidst inverted causes. Among the three kinds of inverted causes, this text remedies their 'primordial nature (prakṛti) as cause'; hence it says, 'one should not seek it in this way.' As for 'why is this so?', it questions in order to explain at length. That is to say, within our Buddha-dharma, subsequent links arise based on previous links; because the preceding causes are severed, subsequent fruits do not arise, and one thereby attains liberation. You assert unmanifest primordial nature (pradhāna) as the cause; even if one knew it, how could one thereby be liberated? Hence it says 'one should not.' The phrase 'links of existence through causes and conditions,' etc., generally quotes the sūtra text to reveal the rectification of the heterodox, as can be understood.
