二來意，非答前問，何故來？前〈十明〉辨行用，〈十忍〉明行體，今顯行德校量分齊，則下頌中所數德是也。又釋前諸品中所有數量，謂如〈光覺品〉等中皆有數法，今此釋成故也。

Second, the purpose of this section's arrival: it is not answering the previous question, so why does it come? The previous 'Ten Clarities' distinguished practice and function, and the 'Ten Forbearances' clarified the essence of practice; now this reveals the virtuosic virtues and measures their extents—these are the counted virtues in the verses below. Furthermore, it explains all the quantities in the preceding chapters, meaning just as in the 'Chapter on Illumination and Awakening' and so forth there are numerical systems, now this explains and completes them.
