16.36

第二本分中二：先問；二「爾時普賢」下答，中三：先引古事、二類今答、三聞名益。初動地者，明本分提名，表此大法將興之感。出論難光者，明此妙德，聞名發生請問之覺，故能請問十門性起。若不爾者，知何所請？

Second, within the fundamental part there are two: first, the question; second, from "At that time Samantabhadra" onward, the answer. Within [the answer] there are three: first, citing ancient events; second, analogizing with the present answer; third, the benefit of hearing the name. First, the shaking of the earth explains the mention of the title in the fundamental part, symbolizing the resonance portending the imminent rise of this great Dharma. Emitting rays of light of debate explains that when Mañjuśrī heard the name, the awareness of raising questions arose, so that he was able to ask about the ten doors of nature manifestation. Were it not so, how would he know what to request?
