18.79

初舉法勸修中，住林者，行德建立名林，安固不動稱住。又此長者栖薄大林長道之所，因以為名。又住三昧身內，廣現佛境依正因果如林。長者名解脫者，有財有德名為長者。身內容現無邊佛境，定用自在名為解脫。

First, in citing the Dharma to encourage cultivation: "Dwelling in the forest" means that the establishment of the virtues of practice is called "forest", and being secure and motionless is called "dwelling". Furthermore, this elder resided in a vast forest along an extended pathway, and it was named after this. Furthermore, dwelling in samādhi, within his body he extensively manifested the environments and persons, causes and fruits, of the buddha-realms like a forest. The elder is named Vimukti (Liberation): one endowed with wealth and virtue is called an elder. His bodily interior can contain and manifest boundless buddha-realms, and his mastery of concentration and function is called liberation.
