Third, from "At that time Sudhana, when the sun set" onward clarifies seeing, paying respect, and presenting the request. Within seeing first, there are three: first, seeking and inquiring, stating "when the sun set" expresses that the conceptual wisdom prior to the bhūmis has completely ceased. Furthermore, because she is a night deity and cannot be seen during the day, she can only be seen in the dark night. Second, from "saw her" onward clarifies directly seeing her body. The ancients said: the city refers to the path of teaching of the first bhūmi; dwelling high in the empty sky refers to the path of realization; her body like gold means that real virtues are manifest; wearing vermilion garments expresses the radiance of the wisdom of realization. Third, from "upon her body" onward, seeing her karmic function, within which there are three: first, her body manifesting starlight and so forth gathers sentient beings in the dark night; second, her pores manifest dharmas to benefit sentient beings; third, from "wherever she passed" onward, seeing and hearing the bodhisattva teaching and transforming sentient beings within a single pore. Second, from "Sudhana, having seen and heard" onward pays respect. Third, from "said" onward presents the request. "The path to all-knowledge" clarifies that the ten bhūmis are the true causal path to Buddhahood.
