Fourth, from "I have already accomplished" downward, pointing out his own dharmadhātu contains three: first, indicating the name; second, distinguishing the meaning; third, concluding the stage. In the first, the ten directions being without bounds is named "universal door." Reaching everywhere in a single thought is called "swift proceeding." Second, from "stated, saying" downward, distinguishing the meaning, first raises three questions and then returns three answers: first, asking about the place where the Dharma was attained; second, asking whether the place from which he came was far or near; third, asking how long a time it took to come. The answer contains three: first, praising the profound and selecting the vessel. "Only the energetic," and so forth, means that Sudhana is precisely the right person. Because capacity and conditions correspond, he desires to explain it for him; second, from "I only wish" downward, generating superior desire and joy; third, from "replied, saying" downward, directly explaining what was asked. The land of Wondrous Treasury answers the place from which he came. "At the Buddha's place" and so forth answers the place where he attained the Dharma. From "setting out from there" downward answers how long the time of coming was, and also reveals distance. Second, from "in a single thought" downward, explaining the measure of his travel during that many kalpas, directly reveals the meaning of swift proceeding. Third, from "the lands traversed" downward, distinguishing that swift proceeding accomplishes the meaning of cultivation and practice, means offering upward to all Buddhas and rescuing sentient beings below; not only does he not abandon swift proceeding to accomplish wondrous practice, but he also precisely uses swift proceeding to accomplish this superior practice. Fourth, from "and so forth" downward, concluding by extending it to the ten directions, means that since it is thus from the east, it is likewise for the ten directions. Third, from "I only" downward, concluding his own stage.
