6.44

五祕密中菩薩亦破戒，如《商主天子經》云「又復問云：『如我惟忖文殊所說，汝於今者亦是破戒。』答言：『我亦破戒。』問：『何故？』答：『若人破戒，彼墮三惡道。我故思惟墮於惡道成就眾生。以是義故，稱我為破戒。』」

5. Regarding esoteric meaning, bodhisattvas also break precepts, as the Sūtra of the Heavenly Son of the Merchant Leader says: 'It was asked again: "According to my pondering of what Mañjuśrī has said, you at present are also one who breaks precepts." He replied: "I also break precepts." It was asked: "Why?" He replied: "If a person breaks precepts, he falls into the three evil destinies. I purposefully intend to fall into the evil destinies to bring sentient beings to maturity. By this reasoning, they say I break precepts."'
