Third, the upper recension: This is the upper recension among the compiled texts. According to tradition in the Western Regions, Bodhisattva Nāgārjuna went to the dragon palace and saw that the Great Inconceivable Liberation Sūtra had three recensions; the upper recension had verses as numerous as the dust motes of thirteen great trichiliocosms, and chapters as numerous as the dust motes of the four continents.
