Second, clarifying the purpose of its sequence, there are also three meanings: First, the preceding bhūmi explained meditative absorption, while the subsequent bhūmis explain the wisdom generated thereby; because of the sequential meaning of generating wisdom based on meditative absorption, it follows in sequence. This is based on the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra. Second, the preceding three bhūmis are lodged within the mundane, whereas this one transcends the mundane; because of this sequential meaning, it follows in sequence. This is distinguished based on the Daśabhūmika-śāstra. Third, although the preceding three bhūmis attained mundane dhyāna and dhāraṇīs, they were not yet able to attain the factors of bodhi to abandon attachment to dhyāna and attachment to Dharma; therefore, on this bhūmi they cultivate and realize that practice, hence it follows in sequence. This is also based on the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra.
