15.7

First, the clarity of skillfully knowing other minds; in the explanation there are two parts: first, knowing the minds of sentient beings of this one great-thousand world; second, from 'worlds as numerous as a hundred, etc.' onwards, knowing the minds of sentient beings in boundless worlds in the ten directions. In the former, first is the general; second, from 'namely' onwards, the specific; third, from 'in this way' onwards, the conclusion. In the specific, knowing the thirty kinds of minds has two parts: first, explaining minds in terms of practice; second, from 'śrāvakas' onwards, explaining minds in terms of retributive reward. In the former, first, the minds of the three natures are presented in general. Second, the broad and narrow: distinctions are made within the wholesome mind. Third, the evil and superior: following the unwholesome above is called an evil mind, while the reverse is superior; the neutral goes along with the stream, while the reverse turns against it. Second, in terms of retributive reward: bodhisattvas have broad and superior minds; the two vehicles have narrow minds; the three vehicles all turn against [the stream]; the eight classes go along with the stream; and the three destinies are evil. The rest can all be seen.
