Second, in seeing the ten auspicious portents, he first clarifies the causes of being able to see them, which include both self-power and other-power. The ten auspicious signs refer to seeing Samantabhadra's dependent retribution. Grouping them into five pairs, he first clarifies the purity of the land, and subsequently the purity of the sentient beings who abide there; both can be understood. Third, seeing the ten signs of light refers to seeing the marks of Samantabhadra's direct retribution. Moreover, previously he only saw him directly, whereas here he sees him repeatedly. Furthermore, previously he saw coarse marks, whereas here he sees subtle ones. Furthermore, previously he only saw his essence, whereas here he sees his karmic function. Among these ten, the first two merely emit radiance; the next four emit coarse offerings from the radiance; the last four are benefits to people and things, which can be understood. Fourth, concluding the preceding visions, [which indicate that] he will certainly see Samantabhadra.
