將釋經義，總啟十門：一教起因緣、二藏教所攝、三義理分齊、四教所被機、五教體淺深、六宗趣通局、七部類品會、八傳譯感通、九總釋經題、十別解文義。

In proceeding to explain the meaning of the sūtra, I generally open ten portals: first, the causes and conditions for the arising of the teaching; second, the canonical teachings that subsume it; third, the limits and scopes of principles and meanings; fourth, the faculties to which the teaching is addressed; fifth, the depths and shallows of the essence of the teaching; sixth, the breadth and limits of its central tenets; seventh, the divisions, categories, chapters, and assemblies; eighth, the transmission, translation, and responsive resonance; ninth, the general explanation of the sūtra's title; tenth, the specific explanation of the text and its meaning.
