First, as for the intention of its placement: practice is never undertaken in vain; it necessarily possesses its virtues. Since understanding and practice are consummate and wondrous, their superior virtues must be difficult to conceive. Gathering the preceding practices and vows to accomplish the virtuous functioning of faith, it therefore follows next. Furthermore, previously Jñānaśīrṣa brought forward the fruition to inquire about the cause, and Mañjuśrī extensively revealed its cause while briefly indicating its fruition, stating that one 'obtains all superior and wondrous merits and virtues'. He therefore questioned Bhadraśrī to have him expand upon these words. For this reason, the beginning of the verses follows up on what precedes and introduces what follows.
