Fourteenth, regarding decoctions and medicines, there are three [parts]: First, the practice of giving presents the giving of medicine. As proximate retribution, one obtains a body free from disease, like Vakkula; as distant [fruition], one obtains a body like the Medicine King tree, and so forth, as explained under the ten great vows. Second is the practice of pariṇāmanā. When it speaks of 'never recurring,' the sūtra states: 'Treatments cured by worldly physicians may be healed but recur again; what is treated by the Tathāgata ultimately never recurs.' The rest can be known [from this]. Third, from 'the bodhisattva' onward, both [aspects] of what is intended by the two practices are distinguished. When it speaks of being 'unbreakable even by the adamantine encircling mountains,' this is as stated in the first among the ten dharmas of the mighty valor of the Great Nārāyaṇa Banner in the 'Chapter on the Inconceivable Dharmas.' The 'power of firm fulfillment' is also the seventh among the ten powers in that chapter, named the 'firm power.' 'Bliss that cannot be taken away' is because it is the eternal bliss. The 'sovereign, firm body' is the adamantine body. The adamantine is the reality of inner illumination, not merely a golden color, hence it is termed 'sovereign.'
