34.25

六明次第者，先自證信因果，既自證信愍傷妄苦，誓與真樂為救他故。捨而無悋求法無倦，便能了知經論、籌量世法，止惡慚愧，進善堅固，能真供佛。

Sixth, explaining the sequence: one first realizes and has faith in cause and effect for oneself; having realized and trusted this for oneself, one pities the false suffering [of sentient beings] and vows to bestow true joy in order to rescue others. Giving without stinginess and seeking the Dharma without weariness, one can then understand the sūtras and treatises and deliberate worldly dharmas; ceasing evil through modesty and shame, advancing in goodness with firm resolve, one can truly make offerings to the Buddha.
