Third, the restatement in verse. The twenty-two verses are divided into three parts: first, seventeen gāthās versify the practice of the stage; next, four verses versify the fruits of the stage; finally, one verse is the concluding statement. In the first part, there are again three: first, five gāthās and three lines versify the counteraction of superior pride, wherein the first four gāthās versify the ten equalities, and the remaining versifies the practice of the path of suchness. Second, from 'thoroughly understanding' onward, six gāthās and three lines versify the path of non-abiding, wherein the first two gāthās and one line versify the purity of wisdom among knowable phenomena, and after 'having observed and known', four and a half gāthās versify the diligent expedients in transforming sentient beings. Therein, the first gāthā versifies universally observing the falsity of the conditioned and giving rise to both kindness and compassion; the next gāthā and a half, within the contemplation of compassion, versifies the observation of suffering accumulated from conditions; the next gāthā and a half versifies the observation of deep and heavy suffering; the latter half-gāthā versifies the contemplation of great loving-kindness. Third, from 'named' onward, four and a half gāthās versify the excellence of its fruit, wherein the first half-gāthā versifies the excellence of gathering merit, and the next gāthā versifies the excellence of cultivation. Therein, the line 'all of this is for the sake of sentient beings' concurrently versifies the excellence of transforming sentient beings. The final three verses versify the excellence of arising worldly wisdom, versifying the fruit of the stage. The three fruits can be understood. The Fifth Stage is concluded.
