Seventh, maturing sentient beings: above, the peace of mind of both benefits was explained generally; here, specifically maturing sentient beings to benefit them is explained. Hence it was stated above: 'Then one is able to deliver sentient beings with loving-kindness and compassion.' However, there are two meanings: first, by generally using these ten to mature all sentient beings; second, each matures one class of sentient beings, namely: first, maturing sentient beings who are stingy, greedy, and impoverished; second, maturing sentient beings who rely on physical appearance and are haughty and arrogant; third, those who doubt the Dharma; fourth, the obstinate and unruly; fifth, the greedy and attached; sixth, those who delight in the two vehicles; seventh, those who do not delight in adorning buddha-fields; eighth, those who do not rejoice in the fruit of Buddhahood; ninth, those of wrong refuge; tenth, those of wrong wisdom and cunning deceit. Through the ten dharmas in the sūtra, they are matured in proper sequence.
