Sixth, stages and stations: some say all are at the stage of fruition, because they are manifestations of the sāgaramudrā[-samādhi] of Vairocana. Some say all are the cause-and-fruition ocean, which cannot be seen or heard. The Bhagavat is also a cause, because he is manifested by consciousness. Or they all apply to both cause and fruition: because the attainment of fruition is not abandoned, and causes manifest according to category; because the vow-power of the causal stage assists the Buddha's transformation; and because the stream of matching capacity is correctly cultivating and advancing. Or they are both neither cause nor fruition, because the assembly of pratītyasamutpāda is based on true nature. Correlating this with the preceding provisional and real: the fruition stage is exclusively provisional, while the causal stage applies to both provisional and real. If correlated with the preceding ten categories: the resonant and Dharma-verifying assemblies apply to both cause and fruition, while the remaining eight are exclusively causal; the heights and depths of their causal stages are difficult to determine definitively.
