From here below is the third major division: Maitreya alone, explaining the mark of integrating virtues into the causal stage. Previously, having assembled conditions to enter the real, he is definitely capable of attaining buddhahood; hence it treats the meaning of one with one lifetime remaining fulfilling the causal stage. The text has only five sections, because the station of one lifetime remaining is exceedingly prominent, lacking the deferral of humbling oneself. First, proceeding in quest according to instruction; in this there are two parts: first, indicating mindfulness of the former and proceeding to the latter; second, from "remembering oneself" onward, separately giving rise to superior mindfulness, regretting the past and cultivating the future. In this there are four parts: 1. contemplating past faults to apply antidotes; 2. from "further contemplating this body" onward, contemplating its present suffering to urge forward future goodness—practitioners, please examine and emulate this; 3. from "when generating this thought" onward, explaining the benefits of contemplation and mindfulness, benefiting his superior contemplation; 4. from "all such..." onward, concluding the attribution of the benefits.
