Regarding the Commentary's line: 'The "Ten Samādhis" chapter,' and so forth: this is the second part, citing scriptural proof. It refers to the text on the tenth Samādhi of the Unobstructed Wheel, corresponding to fascicle 43. 'There is a lotus flower extending to the limits of the ten directions' is the sūtra text, though it is abbreviated. Fully, it states: 'Disciples of the Buddha! The bodhisattva-mahāsattva has a lotus flower, vast and extending to the limits of the ten directions, adorned with ineffable petals, ineffable jewels, and ineffable fragrances,' and so forth. Next, saying 'yet it does not prevent there being something externally visible' is citing the meaning. That sūtra states in full: 'Sentient beings who see it all bow in reverence; thus we know there are also external characteristics that can be seen.' In fascicle 77, Sudhana praises the tower, saying: 'The dwelling place of those who, without moving from their original place, can universally go to all Buddha realms.' In fascicle 76, Lady Māyā states: 'Furthermore, good son! When that wondrous light entered my body, although the size and measure of my body did not exceed the original, in reality it had already transcended the world. Why is that? Because my body at that time was equal in measure to empty space, fully capable of accommodating all the palaces of birth and adornment of the bodhisattvas of the ten directions.' Passages such as these all demonstrate sovereign ease in breadth and narrowness.
