10.8

疏「以別該同」下，三通妨難。謂有難言：既同頓同實，何異頓實？故此通云：即此同中必有別義，如事理無礙必有事事無礙耳，猶彼江水，入海亦鹹。

Regarding the Commentary's passage from "Subsuming the shared with the distinct..." onward: the third part resolves objections and difficulties. That is, there is an objection saying: "Since it is identical to the sudden and identical to the real, how does it differ from the sudden and real?" Therefore, he resolves this by saying: within this very shared [aspect] there must be the distinct meaning, just as principle and phenomena unobstructed must possess phenomenon and phenomenon unobstructed, like the water of a river becoming salty once it enters the ocean.
