As for the commentary's "The 'Chapter on the Ten Abodes' in the old sūtra": this is the second, citing scriptural evidence. The reason the old sūtra is cited is that its text is clear. The present sūtra says: "Countless, innumerable Cakravāḍa mountains, / Wishing to make them all enter into a single pore, / Understanding their large and small sizes as they are— / With this, the bodhisattva initially generates the mind." If one relies on the present sūtra, then the principle of lacking a fixed nature is not distinctly apparent in meaning. How could it compare to the Jin sūtra's "Wishing to know that the utmost large possesses the characteristic of the small"?
