17.16

疏「兼取流通以為五分」者，順於古義，第一分中既攝一部序分，不於正宗之內分為五分，故取流通為第五分，理亦無違。但無大位之問，故疏合為四耳。

Regarding the Commentary's statement, 'Also incorporating the transmission to make five sections': Following the ancient meaning, since the first section already subsumes the introductory section of the entire work, and within the central doctrine [the ancient masters] did not divide it into five sections, taking the transmission as the fifth section also does not violate principle. But because there are no questions on the major stages, the Commentary combines them into four.
