17.80

疏「第三別明時分」中分二：先躡前生起，謂說法時及成佛時，雙標二時；後「此教勝」下，雙釋二時。於中二：先明說時、後釋成佛。前中三：初釋其所以。次「初言尚總」下，二假問徵起。此有二徵：一徵初近遠、二徵初通局。

The commentary's 'Third, specifically clarifying the time periods' has two parts: first, continuing from the preceding to introduce what follows, namely, stating both times: the time of expounding the Dharma and the time of attaining buddhahood; later, beginning with 'this teaching is supreme', explaining both times together. Within this, there are two parts: first, clarifying the time of expounding; later, explaining the attainment of buddhahood. In the former, there are three parts: first, explaining the reasons; next, beginning with 'the initial statement is still general', the second is a hypothetical question raising an inquiry. Here there are two inquiries: first, inquiring whether the 'initial' is near or distant; second, inquiring whether the 'initial' is pervasive or limited.
