Regarding the Commentary's stating that "the path being universally unobstructed, one guides and gathers oneself and others," this is the third meaning of opening the gates to guide and gather. That "the path is universally unobstructed" contains two senses: first, principle is itself the path, and because it is universally unobstructed, it opens the gates to guide and gather; second, when practice accords with the path, there is nothing it does not penetrate, and thus it can guide and gather the practices of the two benefits (self-benefit and benefiting others).
