23.57

疏「然放光」下，通伏難。恐有難言：若常光一尋，與放光異。今常光周於法界，何異放光？故為此通。疏「而分別者」下，亦通妨難。謂上通放光異常光者，則放光有時不放。今引相海常放，如何取別？故為此通。

In the commentary, from "However, the emission of light..." downward, an implicit objection is resolved. It is feared that someone might object: "If the constant light is one fathom, it is distinct from the emitted light. Now, if the constant light pervades the dharmadhātu, how does it differ from emitted light?" Hence, this resolution is provided. In the commentary, from "As for distinguishing them..." downward, an obstacle is also resolved. That is to say, the above resolution took emitted light to be different from constant light, meaning that emitted light at times is not emitted. Now, citing the Ocean of Marks where light is constantly emitted, how can a distinction be drawn? Hence, this resolution is provided.
