In the Commentary, from "According to the Sanskrit text" downward, it matches the Sanskrit text. The Commentary matches a single word, "ocean" (samudra). If given fully in Sanskrit, it would be: loka-dhātu (world), samudra (ocean), … (expounding), … (contemplation, also rendered illumination), … (ten directions), … (collection), nāma (named), parivarta (chapter). If arranged according to [Chinese] word order, it would say in full: "Chapter Named the Collection of the Exposition of the Contemplation of the Oceans of Worlds in the Ten Directions." The translators of the present sūtra were excessively abbreviated. While other words could be omitted, the word "ocean" is crucial, which is why the Commentary takes it up to match. Its intention is: the fruit of buddhahood appears below, where the word "ocean" is absent below. The reason is that the adornment of the ocean of realms is cultivated and aroused by buddhas, whereas speaking simply of "worlds" is because they are formed by the karma of sentient beings and have existed from beginningless time; thus it only says "worlds." Although providing a rationale on behalf of the translators, in truth the word "ocean" is crucial.
