25.39

疏「三宗趣者」，先宗、後趣。趣中有六：一總明。二云「一令諸菩薩」下，別顯。別顯之中總有六意，唯初有「一」字，餘皆略無次第，但以「故」字而為揀別。三「亦為」下，結成來意。四「故下頌」下，引文證成，雙成來意、宗趣。五「若不聞」下，反以成立。六「故普賢」下，引普賢結經文具之。

Regarding the Commentary's statement, "Third, the central theme and orientation": first is the central theme, and next is the orientation. Within orientation there are six points: first, a general explanation. Second, from "First, to cause all bodhisattvas" downward, specific elucidations. Within the specific elucidations there are six intentions in total: only the first has the word "first"; the rest omit numerical sequence, being differentiated merely by the word "in order to" (gù). Third, from "also for the sake of" downward, it concludes the reason for its appearance. Fourth, from "Hence the verse below says" downward, it cites scriptural passages to corroborate, jointly establishing both the reason for its appearance and the central theme and orientation. Fifth, from "If they do not hear" downward, it establishes it by reductio. Sixth, from "Therefore Samantabhadra" downward, it cites Samantabhadra's concluding verses from the sūtra text to complete it.
