Under the commentary's "If according to the extended division...": second, discerning the central theme according to specific classifications. Briefly, there are three meanings. First, the extended division following the chapters is divided into ten sections in all; the present one corresponds to the fourth, as the preceding and following subsume and fold into one another. Second, "Hence this is also named the cause and effect of the primary reward": this refers to the preceding and following interlocking classification; it also corresponds to the second, where "Vairocana" is the cause, and these three chapters are the effect. Third, "It is also what is believed": earlier, Xianshou also assigned these three to the cause and effect that is believed, because they are the fruit of the primary reward. As indicated in the commentary below, they also belong to the first division of the four divisions. As for saying "also," there are two meanings: first, in contrast to the present classification, they belong to the second division; second, in contrast to the classification according to this assembly itself, it is named the assembly of faith capable of accomplishing virtue, whereas now it serves as what is believed, hence it says "also." Commentary: "The previous assembly raised the fruit": this resolves the objection regarding excessive redundancy. First there is the question, followed by the answer. Within the answer there are two: first, resolving it through the meaning. Because the intentions are different, the reiteration can be understood. Later, from "Furthermore, the fruit of the previous assembly was broad..." downward, it answers based on the text, subsuming the lesser under the greater. Because the fruit of the previous assembly was plentiful, it is called the section that raises the fruit; from here downward the cause is broad, so the division is named cultivating the cause. Although this assembly is raised, it directly responds to the earlier objection regarding the naming of the divisions, hence it says the cause is broad. However, taking the cause and effect of this assembly, both have three chapters each and cause and effect seem equal, yet the text on cause is also extensive.
