Regarding the Commentary's 'no turning' and so forth: 'no turning' is precisely the ultimate truth. Because 'none' is stated right within turning, it is not different from the conventional; because turning itself is empty, the true essence persists. Since conventional phenomena have no separate essence apart from the ultimate, it is said that 'characteristics are established'; because the ultimate cannot be seen, it only says that 'the essence persists.' The upper line means the conventional does not contradict the ultimate, and the lower line means the ultimate does not contradict the conventional; hence the Commentary concludes, 'they do not contradict each other.'
