34.18

疏「然並通四隨略舉一治」者，會經文也。摽章具四釋，但有一者，蓋是略耳，故引《涅槃》以證有四之義。謂如一布施，有樂施者勸之，即隨樂也。昔曾修行，能生度善，即隨宜也。因施見理，解財如夢，心事俱捨，即隨義也。

Regarding the Commentary's line: "Yet they all pervade the four adaptations, with only one counteraction briefly cited": this harmonizes with the sūtra text. While the heading provides four explanations, there is only one here because it is an abbreviation. Therefore, the Nirvāṇa Sūtra is cited to prove the meaning of having four. For instance, in the single act of giving: encouraging someone who delights in giving is adaptation to inclination; having practiced it in the past and being able to generate the goodness of crossing over is adaptation to suitability; and through giving seeing the principle, understanding that wealth is like a dream, and relinquishing both mind and objects, is adaptation to meaning.
