疏「八知即心體」者，此句標示。上智即對所證之法明能證之智，今直語靈知真心異乎木石者，通能所證也。

Regarding the Commentary's "Eight: Knowing is the mind-essence itself," this line introduces the topic. The preceding cognition clarified the grasping cognition in contrast to the realised Dharma; now it directly speaks of the numinous knowing, the true mind that differs from wood and stone, pervading both grasping and grasped.
