Regarding the commentary from "Preserving wealth through frugality" down: above it explained 'strength', and from here down it explains 'preserving', briefly mentioning four. Through frugality, wealth is not dissipated; therefore one must not be greedy. Without trust in dealing with things, all people will keep their distance; therefore, when trust extends even to pigs and fish, how much more so to humans! If a large carriage lacks its crossbar or a small carriage lacks its yoke-pin, how can they travel? Thus food and weapons may be abandoned, but trust cannot be abandoned. "Preserving stability through lack of arrogance": when one in high position is not arrogant, being high without peril, one long maintains wealth and nobility, and this constitutes stability. Therefore the common people are the water, and the sage is the boat; water can carry a boat and can also capsize it, and thus one must not fail to guard against danger. If a person is extravagant, their strength will be exhausted.
