39.32

疏「陰合」下，證上因緣門。謂若緣合方生，即無自性故。疏「進退推求」者，離陰別求為退，即陰合求為進，並皆不可，故知體寂。

Regarding the commentary's text from "When the aggregates combine" downwards: this proves the approach of causes and conditions above. That is, if it only arises through the combination of conditions, then it has no intrinsic nature. Regarding the commentary's "Seeking forward and backward": seeking separately apart from the aggregates is going backward; seeking within the combination of the aggregates is going forward. Neither is tenable; hence one knows that their essence is quiescent.
