Regarding the commentary's statement, "The Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa states that because it is produced within the aggregation of the five aggregates," it is called a sentient being (sattva): The Yogācārabhūmi has two explanations, and this is one of them. As for the statement, "there is only this dharma": there is only this dharma of sentient beings (sattva), and sentient beings are just consciousness. As for "there is no remainder": there is no other substance of a self outside that consciousness. The second explanation states, "Furthermore, because one has craving and attachment toward that": its commentary explains, "Regarding the phrase 'toward that', 'that' refers to the eight consciousnesses among objects of affection. That is, possessing affective sentiment capable of craving, it is called sentient being (sattva)." "Sentient being" is sattva in Sanskrit, which was formerly translated as "zhongsheng" (living being).
