In the Commentary, from "However, the nature of the aggregates" onwards, the fifth [part] resolves objections; this is taking the general as the specific. The resolution of the objection has two points: the first is understandable. "Furthermore, it subsumes many dharmas": this is the second explanation, using this to briefly clarify how many or how few dharmas are subsumed by the five aggregates. Relying on the one hundred dharmas of the Mahāyāna, the aggregate of consciousness subsumes only the eight primary minds (citta); the aggregate of material form subsumes only the eleven kinds of form; the two aggregates of perception and feeling subsume only two mental factors among the omnipresent ones; and these four aggregates subsume only twenty-one dharmas. Excluding the six unconditioned [dharmas], which the aggregates do not subsume, the remaining seventy-three are all subsumed by the aggregate of formations; hence it is said to be "many." The one hundred dharmas have already appeared in the commentary and subcommentary to the first fascicle.
