Regarding the commentary’s “Therefore the third pariṇāmanā clarifies ten kinds of joy”: the commentary text has one, which implies the remaining nine: 2. the joy of the incomparable buddha samādhi; 3. the joy of immeasurable great benevolence and compassion; 4. the joy of the liberation of all buddhas; 5. the joy of boundless great supernatural powers; 6. the joy of the supreme, most revered great sovereignty; 7. the joy of pervasive, vast, ultimate, and immeasurable strength; 8. the joy of tranquility freed from all perception; 9. the joy of abiding in unobstructed abiding with constant correct concentration; 10. the joy of practicing non-dual practice without variation. Regarding the commentary’s “Furthermore, the inconceivable dharmas…” downward: the commentary also has one, which implies the rest: 2. abiding in various bodies to perform all buddha works; 3. abiding in equanimous intention to turn the pure wheel of Dharma; 4. abiding in the four eloquence-discourses to expound immeasurable dharmas; 5. abiding in all inconceivable buddha-dharmas; 6. abiding in a pure voice pervasive throughout immeasurable lands; 7. abiding in the ineffable, extremely profound dharmadhātu; 8. abiding in manifesting all supreme supernatural powers; 9. abiding in being able to disclose the unobstructed, ultimate Dharma. It merely reduces the number by ten.
