49.17

疏「三云意生身」，疏文有四：一釋總名、二顯別類、三彰異名、四結文旨。初總名中，言「此乃意是舉喻」者，彼經意生身下便云「大慧！譬如心意，於無量百千由旬外，憶先所見種種諸物，念念相續疾詣於彼，非是其身。及山河石壁所不能為礙。意生身者亦復如。」是故云喻也。

Regarding the commentary's statement, "The third is called the mind-made body": the text of the commentary has four parts: first, explaining the general name; second, revealing the specific categories; third, showing the variant names; fourth, concluding the purport of the text. In the first part, the general name, where it says "this 'mind' is presented as an analogy": right after 'mind-made body', that sūtra states, "Mahāmati! Just as the mind, at a distance of countless hundreds of thousands of yojanas, recollects various objects seen previously and swiftly goes there in thought after thought continuously—which is not the physical body—and mountains, rivers, and stone walls cannot obstruct it, the mind-made body is also like this." Therefore it is called an analogy.
