54.58

疏「即復由此」下，釋第三段所以。言「即復由此」者，上說默之由，顯於地體甚深玄妙。本為彰默之意，傍令物解。第三段中將欲為說，特明義說二大，顯法之深玄，令知所說但是說因。說大可說，因於說大悟解深義。亦為令眾不隨聲取離謬解故，故有即復之言。

From the commentary’s "Namely, further due to this" downward explains the reason for the third passage. Saying "namely, further due to this": above, the reasons for exposition and silence were stated, revealing that the essence of the grounds is profoundly deep and abstruse. It was originally meant to manifest the intent of silence, incidentally causing beings to understand. In the third passage, about to expound, he especially clarifies the two greatnesses of meaning and exposition to reveal the depth and abstruseness of the Dharma, causing them to know that what is expounded is merely the cause of the exposition. The greatness of the exposition can be expounded; due to the greatness of the exposition, one awakens to and understands the profound meaning. It is also to cause the assembly not to grasp according to sounds and to be free from erroneous understanding; therefore, the words "namely, further" are used.
