Regarding the Commentary's statement, "The first three are the aspiration for practice, hence called minds," it first explains the meaning, and afterward quotes the Śāstra as evidence, which is also the lower text of the Śāstra. Yet speaking generally, all ten are minds and all ten are also called practices; hence these ten kinds are called the weighing of practices. Distinguishing among them, the first three are the upāya-minds of practice, called the "profound mind" in the Śāstra; hence the Commentary explains "mind" as aspiration. Regarding the statement, "The Bodhisattvabhūmi is the same as this," that text says: "The first three are called purity of mind; the latter seven are called purity of upāya for practice."
