59.54

疏「別中初四」下，釋別句中二：先科、後釋。釋中「柔軟」者，引《瑜伽》意。於他柔軟，直就論意是自柔軟，柔軟即喜樂。則持戒之人心無惱悔，故生喜樂。

Regarding the commentary's phrase "Among the specific ones, the first four": below, in explaining the specific clauses, there are two parts: first the outline, then the explanation. In the explanation, "pliant" cites the meaning of the Yogācārabhūmi. Pliant toward others, according straightforwardly to the treatise's meaning, is pliancy in oneself; pliancy is joy and delight. Thus, the mind of a person who upholds the precepts is free from remorse, and therefore generates joy and delight.
