The Fourth Ground, the Radiant Ground (Arciṣmatī). Regarding the commentary from "the reason it follows" below: The commentary text is divided into two parts: first, relying on the three trainings; second, from "if relying on the fundamental treatise" below, relying on the assigned positions. The former has two parts: first, a general [explanation]; next, a specific one. As for the first, which generally cites: The Yogācārabhūmi cites the Saṃdhinirmocana because it intends to clarify both by providing both sūtra and treatise. The sūtra corresponds to the fourth, the "Pāramitā Chapter": "Avalokiteśvara asked: 'The Buddha taught the ten grounds; by how many purities and how many divisions is the Buddha Ground subsumed?' The Buddha said: 'Good son! You should know that the grounds are subsumed by four kinds of purity and eleven divisions. What are the four kinds of purity that can subsume the grounds? Namely, the purity of superior aspiration subsumes the First Ground; the purity of superior morality subsumes the Second Ground; the purity of superior mind subsumes the Third Ground; the purity of superior wisdom subsumes the subsequent grounds because they become progressively superior and subtle—you should know that it can subsume from the Fourth Ground up to the Buddha Ground.'" Explanation: The "eleven divisions" mentioned above are the ten grounds and the Buddha Ground.
