Under the Commentary's "Second, extinguishing notions of resistance," this cites the sūtra; the term 'three kinds of resistance' arose due to this phrase. Under "ear, nose, tongue," the treatise's explanation takes the conjunction of the four consciousnesses to mean only the four sensory data—namely sound, smell, taste, and tangibles. Consciousness must depend on faculties, which, together with the visible [forms] before, all possess resistance by obstruction. Therefore the Yogācāra says: "Because of non-manifestation and transcending those notions as cause, all the various many classes of notions of obstruction, accumulated and aggregated due to manifest colors, are all eliminated."
