Regarding the commentary's: "Sixth, practice that gives rise to pure lands," where the Treatise explains again: "How is it adorned? Free from the defilement of afflictions, beings who have attained firm wisdom dwell within it, and it is adorned by the Buddha-dharma": The meaning is that a pure land has three kinds of purity: first, purity of characteristics—adornment with the seven treasures and so on—which is easy, and therefore not explained; second, purity of the beings in the dwelling place; third, purity of the dissemination of Dharma gates. Because the latter two are difficult, the Treatise brings them out again. Since generating the intention can accomplish them, this is endowed with the causes of the three purities, as extensively detailed in the pure land vows of the First Ground.
