Regarding the commentary's: "Namely remedying the affairs in which one is employed": This is because it is the root treatise. In the treatise there is only the character "writing," as an obstacle of forgetfulness in the affairs in which one is employed. From "Taking and giving" downward, it is the treatise's explanation of this obstacle. The treatise merely speaks generally of taking, giving, depositing, and entrusting. "Hearing the Dharma and contemplating the meaning," matters done and not done, matters already done and not yet done, matters that should be done and should not be done: writing remedies these. Explanation: Dividing the treatise text by meaning here, for this single obstacle there are naturally three sections: first, obstacles in affairs; second, obstacles in understanding; third, obstacles in action. One then uses the commentary to explain the meaning. Saying "done and not done": one merely writes "done" for what was done, and writes "not done" for what was not done, not necessarily that evil is not done and good is done. The latter two are patterned after this.
