疏「今初即牒前護小乘中總句」者，總句，經云「菩薩修行如是功德，為不捨一切眾生故。」疏文具配釋之。

Regarding the commentary's phrase "now the first takes up the preceding general line in guarding against the Hīnayāna": the general line is the sūtra saying: "A bodhisattva cultivates such virtues in order not to abandon all sentient beings."
